THE APPEAL

The Clubman, as it was called, was designed to replace the Wolseley Hornet and the Riley Elf, the more luxurious, three-boxed versions of the Mini. Although the Clubman originally had the same 38 hp engine of the original Mini, that would not have satisfied everyone’s appetite for power and progress. Thus, a sportier 1275cc 57 hp version of the car was also introduced. This car – the 1275 GT – was to replace the brand’s current sporty automobile, the Mini Cooper. It wasn’t a great leap forward in power, indeed the Mini Cooper S, which was to be available until 1971, packed 76 hp – 19 more than the 1275 GT. However, the greater controversy concerned its looks. Ex-Ford designer Roy Haynes was given the task to freshen up the Mini’s visage for the coming decade and he created a much squarer look, which did offer more crash protection and better under-bonnet access, but divided customers. This example of Mini 1275 GT is 1 of 110, 673 that produced at Longbridge in England and very rare from 1972 production line.

The car is in excellent condition as the chassis of the car meets the historic regularity FIA homologation specifications. This means that you can participate in regularity and sporting events without any extra conversion. Fully equipped to participate racing events like Historic Monte Carlo rally.

This Mini 1275 GT comes with fitted all the rallying features and accessories you need for racing, including fully adjustable suspension with MED anti-roll bars, Retrotrip II trip meters, original Lucas lights, gauges, two fire extinguishers, stage 3 1275cc engine with oil cooler and RC40 exhaust system.

PAINTWORK, EXTERIOR AND OVERALL CONDITION
-The paintwork comes to Orange Blaze body color with Old English White color roof and is in excellent condition even the competitive use
-Front spot Lucas foglamps
-Alloy sumpguard R. A. C. spec
-Alloy tank cover with lock

This Mini 1275 GT certainly looks the part, along with its set of four front original Lucas spot lamps, R. A. C. spec sump guard, leather buckles. There’s no mistaking this for anything other than a seriously competitive rally car.

The car runs on 10”x 5 Minilite alloy wheels which are in great condition and there is reportedly no historic damage to the underside. Tires are spotted for every axle and side so it can be easy replaced when the car is competing a racing event.

Having been used in competitive motorsport, there are very few and tiny chips of course. But we think these serve to add to the car’s story. Certainly, paint looks in concours d elegance condition.
