We have owned this Cooper S for nearly 4 years having purchased it originally as a stop gap car. It was always a nicely kept car but the then lady owner was selling because it was pouring oil all over her drive. Oil leaks are common on these cars in later life.
Shortly after buying the car the engine was removed by a specialist and all gaskets & oil seals replaced (including the crank case seal).
By way of "preventative maintenance" while the engine was out of the car we had the timing chain, sprockets & tensioner replaced. The water pump was replaced, the supercharger oil changed. A new 3 piece clutch was fitted and a new clutch slave cylinder.
The auxiliary belt jockey wheels were replaced.
All of that was at 84, 000 miles & we are at 99, 000 miles now so not very long ago.
At around the same time all four wheel hub bearings, all four brake discs, the pads & the rear calipers were replaced & the front steering ball joints were replaced all with OE parts.
The car has been serviced by Lloyd BMW mini since and had its last Inspection ll service 4000 miles ago when it was also MOTd. At this time a complete standard OE BMW exhaust system was fitted together with 4 x Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.
We had always run the car on Dunlop Sport Run flat up to this point but this is the daily drive of my wife who is now 60. The Michelins reduce visits to the cyropractor.
The car was sold new by Premier Cars in Conwy North Wales on the 17. 07. 2003 and initially carried the reg NH03OER but had a private plate fitted at some and was then given the current age related plate.
This is a "time warp" car being unmolested and totally "as supplied new".
The car still has the original radio cassette player and CD stacker in the boot. The original tool kit is still there.
All of the glass including the front "heated screen" is original. Even the floor mats that came new with the car are still in the car.
The car has a panoramic roof & automatic climate control. The air conditioning works great.
It has a rare multi function early steering wheel & cruise control, Zenon headlights etc.
Everything on the car is fully functional.
The original owners pack & books are with the car as are both keys.
This is a really good early Cooper S and would suit an enthusiast who is looking for a really good car to take to a next levelThis is a great Cooper S in a condition that belies the cars age. It drives perfectly.
