My Avus blue Mantara is for sale. I have owned the car for 2 years and done lots of work on it but sadly only driven it for a few hundred miles. Genuine reason for selling - I just dont find the time to use it.
The car is a 2 litre turbo version using the Rover T16 'tomcat' engine and was built in 1997 and first registered in January 1998.
Since owning I have overhauled the standard brakes and brake master cylinder and yes they do work as does the handbrake. Polybushed the rear suspension and replaced shock absorbers. New aluminium radiator fitted last year plus various hoses.
Over the recent winter the chassis was inspected and various areas were freshly treated/ painted and underbody sealed. Gearbox oil was changed plus a few other servicing jobs carried out.
Recently the car has been back on the road after its winter hibernation and the throttle body was removed inspected, cleaned and a new throttle position sensor fitted as the old one had failed. the car now runs nice and smoothly.
On a recent short test run the clutch slave cylinder failed rather unexpectedly, the internal piston seals had become rather mushy and soft. A new cylinder has been fitted and the gear changing is back to its normal smooth action.
The car bodywork is in very good condition with a few stone chips on the nose (well under the nose actually) and minor marks on the protection strips at the rear wheel arches.
Inside the condition is also good with no significant marks or wear on seats or upholstery/ carpets.
The car has only ever been used by me in the dry and is permanently garaged. The past two winters it has been off the road and garaged.
The hood has been recently cleaned and re-treated and is in excellent condition.
The current MOT expires in mid July (11th) so I got the car in today (June 15th 2023) for a new one and it passed with flying colours, so good for another 13 months.
As can be seen from some of the photos the car looks stunning in the sunshine (yes we do get some sun occasionally in the North East of Scotland).
