AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE IV. 1971
Fully rebuilt into a new Heritage bodyshell, lots of cavity and underbody wax.
1275cc engine balanced and running unleaded head, set up by Aldon on their rolling road giving 77 bhp (standard is around 65). Aldon electronic ignition, 3 branch manifold and stainless exhaust.
5 speed gearbox, much more relaxed cruising, economy and quieter!
Spax rear shock absorber conversion.
Servo brakes.
Inertia seatbelts (made for the car) with roll over bar incorporating high level brake light and head rests.
Minilite style wheels.
Spare wheel on the bootlid housing small spares and making the boot more useable.
All the chrome was done properly in the UK !
Wiring harness with extras (Fuses, Relays, Electric fan, rear fog, DRL. Hazard flashers)
The hood has a zip out window, very good on a rainy day, and a tonneau.
32000 miles from complete rebuild, and professionally resprayed in 2017.
I still have the original wheels, a spare axle casing, 3. 9 diff, steering rack and front suspension units.
For sale as I have other classics and it is not getting used enough. £12000. Yes cheaper ones are available but look at the state of the old shell and make up your own mind !

Good fun car, runs sweetly, really easy to drive and cruises nicely over long distances, been to Le Mans Classic several times, Spa Classic, Silverstone, Goodwood, Castle Coombe, Pembray, Santa Pod and lots of Charity runs here over the years. I bought it knowing a new shell was the only way to make a decent car, then waited years for it from Heritage, at the time they were concentrating on the 2000 off MG RV8 shells.
Easy fun car to drive, probably better than when it was built. Given great pleasure building and improving but I have other cars so time to pass it on for someone else to have fun without them having to constantly spend time and effort on repairs. Classic cars do not need to be hard work, but many are !
