Description
I am selling my Marcos TS250. Only seven of these were made and this is car seven of seven (it has number seven written inside the doors). It is all Ford running gear, electrics and wiring loom and has the 2. 5 v6 Duratec engine. It has done 19000 miles since new. It was a runner until this week when it has developed an immobiliser fault following a drained battery.
I bought this as a “garage find” in 2019. It had been off the road since 2014 Since then I’ve changed the fuel pump, filters, cleaned the tank and replaced some of the fuel lines (the reason it was consigned to the garage). I also overhauled the brake callipers installed a new master cylinder and handbrake cables. I’ve gone through all the earths and all the electrics work. Up until this week it ran really well but never got to the top of the projects list to finish it off. I have the common retired problem of too many projects! We live on a private road and it ran up and down the road sweet as anything.
I advertised it in 2021 but changed my mind as I thought, well, if I sell it I’ll never see another one for sale. I then had the wheels refurbished (powder coated and new tyres) and the majority of the paintwork sorted out. It then got overtaken by other projects (again!) and sat in the garage, being started and moved around from time to time (too many toys!).
This week, I decided this was silly and I ought to let somebody else use it so I decided to get it out for an MoT and then sell it. The battery had been drained by the immobiliser and when I charged it up the immobiliser won’t deactivate... arggh. I did think about putting it back into the garage until I found somebody who knows about Ford Mondeo electrics to sort it out…but I know it will just stay there for another two years. So, it’s on a no reserve auction and will sell to the highest bidder.
Battery drain immobiliser faults seem to be common with Mondeos so I’m sure an auto electrician will be able to sort it out quickly. Frustrating really as it normally starts on the button and runs really well.
The photographs are a good reflection of it's condition. I've included pics of a star on the bonnet and an indentation made by one of the boot hinges. These are the worst blemishes now. There are obviously a few minor stone chips and the odd light scratch. Please have a look at the photos. There is absolutely no rot in the chassis, hood is all good, all the bushes, ball joints, wheel bearings, exhausts, etc, etc are all good and there is no reason why it shouldn’t pass an MoT….. bar this immobiliser fault.
I can supply a video of the car running. I took this to send to interested parties in 2021. The car is registered to me and has been since 2019. You are welcome to come and see it, indeed I'd much rather you did. It will obviously have to be transported from near Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire.
It owes me more than £10K and I'd have thought on the road it would have a value of around £13-14K.
