If you are looking for a Cobra which rides and handles beautifully, many agree that the GD Mk4 chassis is one of the best, due to its stiff central spine, coupled with an isolated body shell which is a one-piece rigid semi-monocoque with double skin mouldings, means its a taught car. Properly IVA'ed and Registered as a Gardner Douglas. The car has had 2 owners before myself. I purchased this car from Total Head Turners after seeing it on the NEC Classic Car Show in January 2020 stand, when it had just 7500mile recorded(see pic). I have improved so much since then, to make it one of the best of its type with no compromise, and with 100% on the button reliability. This has included new steering rack, aluminium radiator, complete and detailed suspension rebuild, including Polybushes, needle bearings, pivot shafts etc, diff/ LSD rebuilt by Simply Performance, many electrical improvements, and a bespoke 427 hardtop,(over 5100 pounds alone) the first one ever built for a GD MK4. The hard top comes with both full windows and also wind deflectors, and transforms the car in looks and use. With 6 fixing bolts it is easy to remove in summer. I have spent approximately ten thousand pounds on improvements since purchase from TotalHeadTurners 3 1/ 2 years ago. The specification includes an rolling road set up LS1 5. 7ltr Corvette engine (approx. 400BHP - enough!) with T56 6 speed gearbox and Jaguar XJ6 suspension with IRS rear. With 16inch Image wheels and Toyo TR1 tyres it gives the classic look but with stability and grip. The interior has been designed to give a classic look too, with deep and very comfortable black leather bucket seats and a straight bottom edge dash with smith gauges in the right original 60's S/ C positions. The front body vents have formed Stainless mesh infills, and with a bespoke aluminium nose inner surround, it all adds to the specialness of this car. Internal stainless fuel tank, Bosch fuel pump with regulator and a mix of braided flexible SS hose and copper fuel feed pipes. Twin 2. 5inch unsilenced stainless exhaust with CAT's is rear exit which gives a proper V8 noise mixing both sides of the engine output. Must be good, as won car of the show at Shelsley Walsh 2021. Always garaged at my home and connected to a CTEK trickle charger, this car is 100% reliable and can be left, started and driven without concern, whenever you want to. I have covered approx. ten thousand miles in three years with 100% reliability. There is nothing which needs to be done, repaired, or improved on this car. Only reason I am selling is to experience other exciting car projects. This car just looks right, with the perfect stance, and perfect wheel arch shape and position which is not always a given with some inferior replicas. This is due to the body moulds used by GD for their Mk4 were originally from the AutoKraft Mk4 who were the licence holders for the AC at the time. This was one of the reasons I chose this car over many others I viewed before purchase. It has had a very high quality component build. It undoubtably drives better than many, and that opinion is from experts not mine.
Real star wherever you take it, just don't expect to fill up without getting into conversation.
