I have found out that this car was declared Cat C in 2000. I was unaware of this when I first advertised the car and now reduced the price accordingly.
1991 VW Golf GTi 8v Mk2
MOT until 16/ 05/ 2024, PAS, Sunroof, stainless steel exhaust. Central locking and professionally fitted Thatcham level 2 immobiliser. Virtually standard.
Reluctant sale due to other commitments. I have replaced so many parts on this car in my 10 years of ownership, too many to list but a comprehensive folder of history and receipts will be supplied. I have hardly used it over the last 8 years.
Exterior
The bodywork is generally in good condition although there are a few blemishes and scratches. There is some rust bubbling on the driver's side rear wheel arch and on the wiper panel as shown in the photographs. The front panel and slam panel have been replaced as has the battery tray. Ideally the car needs a full respray as there is some lacquer peel in places. The BBS alloys have been professionally refurbished with new tyres fitted. The original centre caps will be supplied with the car. The rear light are Hella smoked items which I think suit the car but a set of standard rear lights will be supplied.
Interior
The interior is in good condition. The driver's seat bolster is still in tact and I have just fitted a new after market head lining. The MFI works OK but the only way to set the clock is disconnect the battery at midnight.
Mechanicals
The engine is strong and the car drives very well. The starter motor has just been replaced and it starts on the button. The gearbox is good although it crunches on the first change down into second gear when it's cold. This is the only time it does it and is a common issue apparently. I have fitted new rear calipers and a brake bias valve during my ownership.
It's not the greatest Mk2 GTi out there hence the price but there is a lot of potential for a fantastic car. I really want this car to go to the right person. I recommend coming to view the car and I'm happy to let you have a test drive providing you have proof of insurance. Please give me as much time in advance as you can as the car is in secure storage and I have to go and get it. I'm more than happy to answer any questions you might have. Unfortunately selling a car on any platform has it's risks and attracts chancers and 'experts'. Please don't insult me with derisory offers or sob stories. I'm not a charity and I'm not interested.
