This Riley Nine originally built in 1929 has been known to the Riley Register as a special since 1974. It has been lovingly restored with a new Ash and fabric body built to a high level of craftsmanship. The engine and all running gear have been overhauled. The seats and cockpit surround are cream leather, and a nice pair of period brass headlamps are fitted. Steel mudguards have been hand rolled to the correct size for the wheels.
The car starts very easily, is a joy to drive and the steering and brakes work very nicely.
The engine retains its original twin Solex carburettors and magneto ignition all in very good order. The magneto has been overhauled with a new condenser and re-magnetised. The carburettors have a selection of spare jets for different climates.
The exhaust system consists of a four branch manifold with a Brooklands silencer and fishtail.
An alternator has been concealed low down at the front of the engine, to make the car more driveable and reliable, which could easily be removed and converted back to the ( ancient and unreliable) dynamo system for museum exhibition.
The cooling system has also been uprated, incorporating a thermostatic electric fan and water pump.
The wiring and fuel system is all new and to a high standard.
The car is registered in the UK with a V5 in my name. Export and delivery worldwide can be arranged.
The design and construction of this car make it stand out from other Riley specials, the flowing lines and compound curves set it aside from other uglier cars.
