Description
Welcome to the sale of my Alfa Romeo 1750GTV.
The Car is a UK supplied 1750 GT Veloce, Series 1, first registered 21st July 1968.
I am the third owner and purchased the Car in early 2004, the previous owner was a Doctor in the Lake District who was supplied the car by Davidsons Garage in August 1970 (for £1725. 00) it was used extensively, and his family sold the car on to me when he passed away. The history file includes numerous receipts from this time, along with scores of more up to date receipts from work I have carried out.
The Car retains its original engine though ‘matching numbers’ are not really on record with Alfa.
The Car is not concourse, but is a solid car set up for an enthusiastic driver.
Bodywork;
During my ownership the car has been extensively restored, new floor panels, all three sills both sides, rebuilt chassis rails, new cross member, new front valance, rear quarters both sides, full rear panel, Valance and many other sundry repair sections. The car was stripped to bare metal and fully repainted, with a professionally applied top coat of Two Pack in its original AR 013 Spino Bianco.
Engine;
The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner with new Pistons and Wet Liners and the Crankshaft reground. Recently it had a further strip and rebuild with new rings and bearing shells. The engine is standard specification, with twin Weber 40’s, the original cross over intake has been replaced with a Pipercross open filter. Rolling Road outputs show a healthy 130bhp+
Transmission;
Standard five speed Gearbox, HD bearings on prop shaft and new UJ’s. The rear axle is from a 2000GTV, with the Alfa limited slip diff.
Suspension;
Alfaholics Fast Road Kit A Springs with Bilstein Dampers and 25mm FARB (rear ARB deleted) This gives the car excellent handling but still sufficient ride height not to be troubled by lack of ground clearance when driving it as the maker intended. Adjustable top arms to allow some negative camber, poly bushes on top arms, caster arms, front ARB and on the diff mount for the trunnion. The rear trailing arms have HD rubber bushes.
The car will be sold with its original steel wheels and 1750 Hubcaps.
Brakes are standard discs and Calipers with Ferodo DS2000 Pads. The Master cylinder has been replaced with the Alfaholics Race Brake M/ C Conversion. Flexi hoses are braided, the rear circuit has a Tilton balance adjuster.
Interior;
Sadly the original Series 1 Batwing seats are not with the Car anymore (Long story!) the front seats are currently similar to the design used for the 2000GTV’s but trimmed in leather. The rear seat is original. The dash remains uncracked, save for a small area on the left side, the original Hellebore steering wheel is retained. 3 point Inertia reel seatbelts are fitted. The Car is fully soundproofed with Dynamat and Dynaliner.
A rare Golde sliding folding sunroof is fitted and has just been recovered with White Vinyl upper and the correct Snake Bite headlining.
Electrical;
The Battery has been replaced with a Varley Redtop, this frees up space to allow better access to the alternator and Oil Filter. A battery isolator switch is fitted under the bonnet. All four headlights are set on relays to feed directly from the battery and give a good strong light spread. The column mounted switch for side lights has been bypassed with a separate toggle switch for reliability. A thermostatically controlled Electric Fan is fitted.
A separate switched circuit feeds a jack plug a 12v socket and two USB slots on the passenger side of the centre consol.
There is currently no sound system (who needs one with twin Webers?)
