Here we have a remarkable and tastefully modified Mk1 Escort for sale. It has just landed from South Africa and now has a UK registration with a period correct registration number plate.
This car was restored in Johannesburg by a known restorer and isn't your usual SA restoration. This thing is immaculate and has to be seen to be appreciated.
Key Features:
Engine: 1600 Crossflow with Weber 40 fitted, 4-2-1 manifold into a stainless system. We have been told it has 1300 high compression pistons, balanced/ blueprinted, modified cam, and head has been ported & polished.
Transmission: 4-speed gearbox with quick shift.
Condition: Extensive nut and bolt restoration completed, and the car has never been driven since. It's in superb condition, ready to be a show winner.
Interior: Completely re-upholstered with new headlining and lovely chrome details, including chrome slippers on the seat rails, a nice rev counter, and a chrome RS gear knob. We believe they are Mx-5 seats in the front.
Exterior: Fantastic paint job with striping decals. Every panel is straight.
Engine Bay: Immaculate and straight, featuring numerous chrome details such as RS embossed bonnet lock, bonnet stay, and bonnet hinges.
Undercarriage: Painted and pristine with new axle, steering rack brackets, and pipes. The undercarriage is as new and visually stunning.
Brakes: Disk and calipers fitted all around with new components.
Wheels: Brand new 15" alloys.

The engine runs great and sounds powerful, although the carb needs setting up right.
The restoration history folder was unfortunately lost during shipping, but the quality of the work speaks for itself.
