Bought from a friend of ours in our town and owned by me these last 2 1/ 2 years.
It had many £1000s spent on it at a local Triumph specialist in 1998, then it went into dry storage in 2001, not having had much use since the repairs. It stayed in my friend's garage till I bought it off him in October 2022. (See invoices and text of invoices for work carried out just a few thousand miles ago.) I changed many parts like the rubber hoses, fuel pipes, clutch master and slave cylinders, battery, heater valve, wipers, wiper motor, coolant, plugs, oil etc then gave it a service including oil and filter and topped up the gearbox. Basically, I did everything it needed doing to get it back on the road and ensure it was reliable.
I've been using it and enjoying it for the last 2 1/ 2 years but now it's time for a change and I have my eye on another fun toy a friend is planning to sell. I use it regularly year-round to go to classic car meets with friends on sunny weekend days. It's very reliable and always starts and runs well even in the depth of winter. It's never broken down on me.
The external body panels are tatty (looks better in the pictures than close up) but has a solid chassis having had work to the outriggers and other areas such as the floor etc by the Triumph specialist which you can verify in the invoices.
This car can be enjoyed as is or you can fix up the panels which as time and funds allow. As you may know the chassis is separate on these.
Comes with wtih two sets of keys, owner's manual and period Sharp radio cassette player in the glove box. Wheels are non original ones. The hood is good (one of the items changed by the Triumph specialist when it had the refurbishment) but it's a tight fit to close it. It's not really been used much so the fabric will need stretching in the sun to make it close easily. (I only ever use it hood down.)

Purchased two and a half years ago from a friend of mine in our town. She had bought it from her brother in the 80s and he’d owned it since the 70s.
She’d spent £3577 on it in 1998 at a Triumph specialist (bills available) then used it till 2002 when it went into storage in their dry garage (see one of the pictures). The fuel had been drained from the tank
In 2022, after 20 years in storage, she couldn’t see herself driving it again at her age so told me she was planning on selling it. As this was a local family known to me, and having always wanted a 6 cyliner, 4 seater Vitesse, I bought it and had it recovered the mile or so to my house.
As it had been stored for 20 years so I changed the rubber fuel pipes, put fresh fuel into the (previously drained) tank, cleaned the points, put new plugs in and changed the oil and filter. After fitting a battery, it started immediately. It ran perfectly with no spluttering and idled nicely as the carbs must have been dry when put away. I then also changed the coolant hoses and heater valve and put fresh anti-freeze in. I changed the clutch master and clutch slave cylinder and put in fresh fluid. I also had a new set of tyres fitted as didn’t fancy driving on 20+ year old tyres.
This has proved to be a great car for a bit of fun at weekends with my buddies who also have old cars.
I’ve had a lot of fun with it these last two and a half years, using it weekends, going to car meets or runs out with other classic car friends. I’ve used it through three winters only on dry days with dry road and it’s always started and run fine. It never overheats or has any other problems.
I pay no road tax and it doesn't need an MOT
Classic car insurance is £75 per year for me but I'm over 60
