Descrição
Available until 10/ 8/ 2025. After this it will be traded in for another car I’ve seen. Also advertised on other media sites, so once it’s gone from here it’s gone.
For sale is my Ford Corsair V6 1971. Located in Prestwich, north Manchester.
South African import in 2016.
Let’s begin by saying if you are looking for an original factory spec. car, then this isn’t the one for you.
It’s been previously modified to make it a reliable car you could use daily, including -
5 speed gearbox.
Electronic ignition, with push button start.
Larger aluminium radiator with twin electric fans for more efficient cooling.
Replacement Dgas Weber carburettor.
Battery located in its cavernous carpeted boot.
The car will come fitted with the Rostyle wheels at this reduced price. The chrome Cyclone wheels are available as an alternative for £7250. 00.
The interior has been revamped in the past, with replacement upholstery, carpets, door cards and roof lining. No damage, rips or tears.
RS style front sport seats fitted with fishnet headrests.
Reel inertia seatbelts fitted front & back.
Wooden dash is in very good condition.
Heater works well, hot and cold.
Ignition, boot and door locks all work from the same key.
In the last 15 months it’s had 2 oil changes, plugs, distributor cap and rotor arm, new oils in the gearbox and diff.
New thermostat, gasket and temp sensor, coolant replaced.
New stainless steel back box fitted.
New clutch, gear lever, rear crank oil seal, spigot bearing, core plugs, new front nearside strut.
New/ old stock indicator stalk fitted.
Flywheel skimmed.
Being a South African car, it is structurally solid, with just a few small areas of corrosion on the bodywork as shown in the pictures.
Panel gaps are good.
Underneath is in remarkable condition, with no evidence of any welding repairs, and definitely none required.
Chrome is not perfect, but is shiny and in very good condition.
A couple of small jobs required -
Dashboard top has a small crack.
Rev counter and Amp dial on the dash are not working. I understand both need modifying for the electronic ignition, and the rev counter needs re-calibrating for the 5 speed gearbox.
Some paperwork history, is very well known and admired in the Corsair owners club, with some members being previous owners. There is plenty of information about the car via the enthusiasts club on Facebook as well.
Tax, ULEZ and MOT exempt, but fully roadworthy, and used regularly. Garaged when not in use.
Mileage is now 81, 000, not warranted, and will increase with use.
I run it on E5 petrol with a lead additive.
Brakes, steering and suspension all work efficiently, with no untoward noises.
Great oil pressure hot and cold.
All electrics working (excluding the rev counter and amp dial as mentioned).
Viewings and test drives encouraged.
I am now ready for my next classic. I only have garage space for one car, so it’s a case of one in, one out. Therefore, I will welcome a straight swap or part ex (cash either way) for one of the following -
Triumph TR7 2. 0 or V8.
Triumph Stag 3. 0 or 3. 5 V8.
Rover SD1.
Sunbeam Rapier/ Alpine fastback.
Daimler 250 V8.
Reliant Scimitar GT/ E or GT/ C.
Vauxhall Victor FD/ FE/ Ventora.
Ford Sierra XR4i.
Ford Capri MK1/ MK2 1. 6 or 2. 0.
This list is not exhaustive, so if you have an alternative classic that you think may interest me, then please get in touch. It needs to be pre 1995 and less than 5 metres long to fit in my garage. I’m also too tall and too old to fit into a small car like a Mini or MG Midget.
Any car offered needs to be fully roadworthy like mine, with a current MOT unless it’s exempt. No projects/ restorations.
Payment by bank transfer.
It’s ready to be driven away, but if you wish to have it transported, then please arrange this yourself once it’s been paid for.
