This 1986 VW Golf CLX automatic was originally sold in South Africa and imported into the UK in 1997. The current owner bought it in the summer of last year and had me carry out a couple of jobs before he started to use it. There was an issue with the differential so a replacement gearbox was sourced and fitted, new door seals have been installed and it's also had a cam belt replacement and full service with new coolant and heater hoses. The original book pack and owner's manual is included.
The bodywork is in very good order with no rust anywhere. There are some chips and scratches and the paint is a little flat but it will definitely polish up nicely. The interior is in excellent order, seats look like new, carpets, door cards and headlining are all good. The engine bay is in really nice order, I gave it a bit of a clean when the service and gearbox replacement were being carried out and had the cam cover, timing cover and radiator shroud painted. The MoT certificate runs out August 2025. Hard to believe it will be tax exempt next year as it is a totally usable modern classic.
