Description
Being offered for sale is my 1953 Austin A90 Atlantic Coupe as a restoration project to be completed. This is the Sports Saloon version of the A90 Atlantic that was built between January 1950 and September 1953. NOH 736 was first registered in April 1953 making this a really late car and one of the last Atlantics registered.
I bought the A90 in early Summer 2004 and a full strip down commenced with every intention to make this one of the best Austin A90 Atlantics to show winning standard. The Atlantic was stripped down to every last nut and bolt and the chassis separated from the body. The A90 has been subjected to a full nut and bolt exacting re-build, with the shell receiving new inner and outer sills pattered and supplied by the Austin Counties Car Club panel maker at that time. The body and chassis has been chemically dipped and
E-Coated. All mechanics have been rebuilt and uprated where needed. The fully rebuilt 2660cc 4 cylinder engine and gearbox which went on to power the Austin Healey 100 have been fully detailed and fitted in the chassis and the body remounted and fitted out over the detailed chassis and running gear. The car has yet to be started.
I had the Atlantic fully painted and detailed in House of Kolor solid jet black which is stunning and a mirror finish as seen in the pictures and received a huge amount of positive comments at its recent NEC Show in March.
The chassis has been fully powder coated along with all running gear and suspension. All new suspension springs an leaf springs have been made and fitted.
The underside including the chassis has been fully detailed, the car was recently displayed on the Austin Counties Car Club Stand at the NEC Lancaster Insurance Restoration Show in March this year and received a huge amount of comments to the standard of work and paint.
This is a fully matching numbers car and all of the parts not fitted in the current pictures do come with the car and need to be either be restored and refitted or are NOS or restored waiting to go back on the car. There is nothing missing on this car to hinder the completion of its restoration. The A90 comes with multiple parts and a huge amount of spares all boxed in crates. In the last month I have had the car fully detailed with a 2 stage machine detail and ceramic coated.
I am the 3rd owner of the Atlantic since 1953, The car is a Birmingham registered local factory car and the full history of the car is known from new with the dealer sticker mounted on the dash - being supplied by Premier Motors of Tamworth. I have key fobs from this dealership that come with the car. The history documented in a file, with the old buff log book, insurance paper work and photos from the 1950's.
I have a full photographic record of the car being rescued from its 34 year resting place back in 2004. The full photographic record continued and remains with the car since the rebuild commenced. A box file of receipts accompanies the car documenting an supporting every step of the restoration to date. There are receipts in excess of £25K.
The last 6 months painstakingly fitting all the body panels and doors to the shell and fitting the car out as you see in the pictures. I have once again got the unique rear wind down back window working. Even the original Ace 'Peak' number plates have been painstakingly retained and restored.
Due to my long term ownership and being in the Atlantic ownership circles for over 20 years, I have managed to source mostly new old stock parts and get the best of what I have been able to create one the the best Atlantic Coupe restorations so far. Most of the parts I have collected would be unobtainable now to recreated a car to the standard I have. This has been a no expenses spared restoration since I began the rebuild in 2004. There is still work to be completed, the interior including the headling and vinyl roof. The originals are there for patterning. The bumpers and bonnet, boot and lower chrome needs replating. I have fully stripped all the window surrounds and had these rechromed. I have NOS door handles and badges. Everything is there to complete the restoration, including a new wiring loom, extremely rare and non obtainable bonded front screen rubber and new windscreen.
This is a very rare opportunity to acquire and next level restoration of an extremely rare Counties Austin from the 1950's. All the major hard work has been undertaken and the car needs finishing. I have too many projects and thinning out my collection and unfortunately this A90 is one of them.
Please, serious and genuine enquiries only. I can email pictures of its detailed restoration. The price does not reflect the work that has gone into this restoration to date. This Atlantic has been restored so far to exacting standards and will make a stunning show winning car for someone.
