Description
1954 Alfa Romeo AR51 MATTA, developed in the late 40ies to Italian government specification, the AR standing for ‘Auto-Veicolo Ricognitivo’ ( reconnaissance vehicle) this very rare one of circa 2000 beautifully over engineered vehicles was first owned by the Italian army, passing into civilian hands in 1969 and imported into the UK in 2006.
Extrordinarily fitted with the famous Alfa Romeo 1900 cc twin cam, as fitted to their sports cars of the era but detunned from 100 bhp to 60bhp, this giving the car masses of torque which suited its purpose extremely well . An AR51 was the first Military Vehicle to be allowed to enter the modern ‘Mille Miglia’ thus offering a very good value potential entry into this famous event. This late production 1954 MATTA is believed to be 1 of 3 registered in the Uk. Great fun to use , go anywhere or cause a stir at most car events.
