Description

This is a lovely MkIV Spitifire in need of restoration. I have owned it for over 30 years and have loved almost every minute of it. It spent 12 years in America with me, turning many heads, but it is time to pass it on to someone who can bring it back to life!
The good parts:
Within the last 500 miles:
- gearbox rebuilt by Mike Papworth Triumph
- reconditioned diff fitted
- seats fully reupholstered with leather seats from Park Lane Classics.
- engine rebuilt including new MkIII profile cam, fully rebuilt carbs with K&N filters and jets to match, electronic ignition conversion, stainless steel free flow exhaust, uprated radiator, replacement block, new pushrods, buckets, head and block skimmed, seals and gaskets as necessary.

The not so good!
- one conn rod big end came apart, breaking the conn rod and potentially scored the crank (haven't had it checked so potentially able to get it ground). Engine does not run!
- Interior needs upgrading, especially the door cards after one caught fir when a garage was repairing one of the sills and didn't realise they were a bit close to the door!
- the body requires restoration. I am not experienced in bodywork, so am not able to do the work myself. Please see the attached photos for the main areas in need of repair. I am more than happy to provide more photos of specific areas on request and to answer any questions you may have.

I have spent many happy years with this car but feel that it is now in need of a new home. This would be a great project for someone and it could be made into a wonderful car once again. I bought this car on a whim when I got money from my parents when they sold out family home. It was my only car for many years, and it hardly ever let me down.
I took several trips to the 24hr in Le Mans, the first trip after rebuilding the engine two weeks earlier due to the original piston rings finally giving out! A great way to run her in!!
The year in America were wonderful, especially in LA. I have wonderful memories, such as driving with my three year old son in the passenger seat, going down the freeway, roof down and seeing the faces of other drivers as they went past a convertible with a toddler driving!!!
As I mentioned, I have so many great memories with this car, but I realise I am not in a position to give it the attention it needs to get it back on the road in the condition I would want. I hope that you would want to have this car to restore it, enjoy it, and make your own 30 years worth of memories!
