Description
TVR Taimar, owned for nearly seven years since my purchase in 2018. This thoroughly enjoyable car holds sentimental value, notably taking my wife to the hospital twice for the birth of our first child. While I've cherished my ownership, a growing family (now with two children) necessitates parting with this two-seater.
Beyond its iconic TVR styling, the Taimar uniquely features a practical tailgate – a first for TVR – making loading luggage and shopping significantly easier than contorting through side doors.
The robust 3-litre Ford Essex engine delivers a pleasingly torquey and unstressed 140bhp driving experience. While its power could be doubled, I never found it necessary. The engine's distinctive roar under hard acceleration is guaranteed to bring a smile.
Over the years, the car has benefited from several maintenance updates, including chassis cleaning and repainting, more comfortable leather Mazda MX5 seats (original seats included), front suspension replacement, electronic ignition, and a bypass electric fuel pump for easier starting. Other minor improvements have also been made.
The main imperfection is the patchy paintwork, which would benefit from a refresh. However, the glassfibre body ensures freedom from rust, like all TVRs.
Recent MOT inspections revealed no significant issues (screenshot provided). The car benefits from 'Historic' status, making it exempt from both road tax and mandatory MOT testing.
This is a rare chance to own and savour a distinctive classic British sports car.
PS. The registration plate TVR 680X is included with the sale.
