Description
1970 Camaro Z28 pro street unfinished project. A change in direction with my work over the pandemic has really stunted my progress since then and I don't think I'll ever have time to finish this car. It is currently dismantled, underneath and suspension parts have been blasted and painted in black epoxy ready for reassembly. Bodywork has been blasted and painted in beige epoxy primer.
This car was running 1000bhp with it's 1971 454 big block, 8/ 71 supercharger, and 300BHP nitrous kit.
Comes with way over $20, 000 worth of performance parts (listed below) including some which are brand new in box eg. Wilwood front and rear disc brakes, chrome brake booster, etc.
It is a genuine Z28 RS with paperwork. V5 present.
This car came in a one-year-only colour of Camaro gold with Sandalwood interior. It's an all original-steel Californian car, very solid with only a few small areas of rust eg the bottom of the front wings.
Imported approx 20 years ago, the car has MOT certificates from 2004 with 70 miles until 2019 for 4000 miles. I have only driven it around my yard a few times and then I began the restoration.
I took this Camaro in px and I planned on a turning it into a gleaming show car, inspired by Jef Ferns' modern twist on a pro street Camaro. I was going to put my car back into its original gold paint and black racing stripes but with a modern, custom leather interior, electric seats, digital dash, etc. But you can paint it whatever colour you want!
The engine is a periodic correct 1971 454 cu. in. big block (pushing out approx 450bhp as standard), with 4 bolt main. The engine is currently being professionally rebuilt with new forged pistons, etc.. It has a rebuilt 8/ 71 supercharger from The Blower Shop with twin double pumper Holley carbs, bringing horsepower to around 800 depending on boost. At the flick of a switch, there is a 300bhp NOS nitrous system which brings the total to over 1000bhp. The previous owner told me it ran in the 9's.
The engine needs some finishing off - I have taken the engine to a specialist who is rebuilding it or me and should be finished in a couple of months. So far, I have spent £1920 on engine repairs including £920 pistons etc receipt from Real Steel, £500 for some ‘990’ high performance cylinder heads second hand, the rest on labour:
All machine work done
New pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump fitted
Camshaft, line bore, core plugs done
Pistons balanced, rods hones, water ways cleaned and enlarged
New lower stud kit
To handle all this power, the car has a narrowed Mopar rear axle with Weld alloys and huge Hoosier tyres, and the gearbox is a TH400 Turbo with mods to take 2000bhp.
The brakes were standard disc/ drum which seemed a bit mad with all the power, so I purchased Wilwood Dynalite drag kits front and rear with a chrome Tuff Stuff booster and new brake lines. (About $2000 worth, all new in boxes included in this sale).
Suspension has Avo and Ridetech coil overs. The springs I had professionally cut down and tempered to give the car a lower stance. The bonnet is a clip down fibreglass one but I have bought a good steel one with new hinges and latch, which I also blasted and epoxy primed.
Since 2020 I have spent out £6800 on restoration: Sandblasting grit £200, Paint £1300, Willwood brakes etc. £2000, Body panels £1300, Engine £1920
Plus probably 100s of hours of my time.

I may be interested in a swap/ pxWith 1000bhp, this car is one of the fastest cars on the roads. The noise from the engine is huge. It's a very rare car in standard form too - less than 10 percent of Camaros were the top of the range Z28. The first of these 2nd gen cars were only made for 6 months in 1970 and were some of the last real muscle cars before the manufacturers started detuning them. A top one is valued at $100K on Hagertys but custom resto-mod cars in the US can be $200-300K.
