This very desirable Mk2 with the large low bumper and grill is very collectible with very good examples making 20k plus. This car is a great project for someone.
It is very solid particularly in the boot as are the rear arches and valance which are notorious for rust on these cars.
The floors are solid with good inner sills and tie rod areas. The drivers outer sill needs some patching or replacement though there is plenty to weld to, nothing previously bodged as this is effectively a one owner car.
The doors close nicely - they require some work as one has a dent and the other has some rust at the bottom, the bonnet is good overall.
I have revived the paint which has come up very nicely and doesn't really warrant a respray. It has a good shine and the chrome overall on the car is very presentable. Originally conifer green I believe which is a British racing green.
I have fitted wire wheels which are in excellent condition with 4 matching tyres - all with excellent tread and only a couple of years old.
Interior has the original faded carpets and the seats are in good shape with a very nice condition dashboard and excellent chrome on the dials.
Side panels and door cards are in great condition and finishing of the interior is a rare Les Leston steering wheel which is quite valuable.
The engine needs freeing off and currently doesn't run. The car has been off the road dry stored- electrics work, ignition and oil light come up on the dash and the lights, indicators, wipers / main beam etc all work.
Master and slave cylinders will need doing and an overhaul of the brakes required.
There is a tonneau but no soft top which was too ripped to use. I have a hardtop which can be negotiated in the deal if required.
In summary this is a rare model and a very worthwhile project or full restoration. These are the best looking of the Spitfires and values reflect this- with the car on wire wheels too it really is the quintessential '60's classic car.
