Description
• This Le Mans Sports Car Company D-Type recreation is an appealing and honestly ‘patinated’ tribute to the iconic Le Mans-winning race car.
• Under the bonnet sits a Nissan-sourced 2. 8-litre naturally aspirated straight-six fed by twin SU carburettors, driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
• This example was built by the Le Mans Sports Car Company of Twickenham in 1970, and was first registered in August 1970. The car spent most of its life in Europe and was brought back to the UK last year. It is now UK registered as 'historic', and is ULEZ, MOT and road tax exempt.
• This faithful D-Type recreation appears to be crafted using a mixture of aluminium and fibreglass for the bodywork, over a steel frame chassis.
• This example is finished in an appealing shade of blue with a contrasting gloss-white front grille surround, and number 1 racing roundels on the nose cone, doors, rear fin, and boot area.
• Inside, the exposed riveted aluminium cabin features blue leather upholstery with dark blue seat piping, as well as a black dashboard.
• It rides on a set of 15-inch replica Dunlop alloy wheels with three-spoke knock-offs, shod in Continental Contrans tyres.
• Features include a wrap-around aeroscreen, a Perspex front grille cover, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths gauges, multi-point Irvin seat belts, a side-exit exhaust, a removable passenger tonneau panel, and coilover suspension. The car is a real crowd pleaser. Looks amazing, drives really well and sounds spectacular. I bought it to get a feel for what it must have been like to drive a Le Mans winning 1950's British racing car, and it has certainly given me that!
