Description
SE 2386 is a 11. 9HP 1926 Riley Coach Saloon first registered new in Buckie, near Inverness by Riley agent Andrew Donaldson on the 16th January 1926, so it is coming up to 100 years old. It retains its original Banffshire registration number, chassis number 69285 and engine number 5614
The coach saloon was one of many bodystyles open to purchasers of the 11. 9 HP, including the sought after Redwing sports version.
After falling into a very poor state and even being used as a chicken shed SE 2386 was totally restored by the late Chris Baggalley in the 1980's, and on completion won a concours at the Riley Register Coventry rally. It was then used as a wedding car at over 330 weddings!
It was recently featured on the front cover of the Riley Register Bulletin, number 273 March 2024, and on the inside cover of issue 274 with additional pictures.
The car was built during the later years of the model so has a 4 speed gearbox with a right hand gear lever and 4 wheel brakes. Pedals are coventional with the accelerator on the right, not central. The car completed a 90 miles route for the VSCC 90th Anniversary in 2024 celebration and was an award winner on the VSCC 80th anniversary navigation rally near Peterborough.
It will cruise at 45 - 50 mph, but would befit from having the engine tuned and the brakes adjusing. Priced to sell and can be delivered at cost only.
