Description
A true survivor!
Bought new in 1984 by Mr Sutton, whom sadly passed away in 1985. This car was left
To his wife who could not drive, hence the genuine low mileage. The car was parked in Mrs Sutton’s garage in 1987 & didn’t see the light of day until 2016 where it saw its first MOT at which point the tyres & exhaust where replaced, along with some brake lines. After the MOT it went straight back into storage until 2022 when Mrs Sutton sadly passed away & I then purchased the vehicle from an auction.
Upon purchasing I have carried out a sympathetic recommissioning, trying to retain as much of its originality as possible. This included a major engine service, which included new distributor cap, rotor arm, points & condenser, new spark plugs, HT leads, oil and air filters replaced. At the same time the front brake pads & discs were replaced aswell as 2 front brake calipers. The rear brakes were also serviced at this time. It was at this time the car passed an MOT without any issues or advisories. I have continued with voluntary Mots since my ownership despite it now being MOT & Tax exempt.
The carburettor has since been replaced for a Weber 34ICH with manual choke. This could do with tuning as the car does smoke a little when cold but drives perfectly once warmed up. I will try to get this done prior to sale.
All original parts that I have removed have been kept & will be included with the sale. I also have the original brochure & hand written notes from when the car was ordered.
The exterior is in reasonable condition for its age, there are some scratches on the bonnet caused by a break in and stolen lawn mower being pulled over the bonnet whilst being kept In Mrs Sutton’s garage, there is also a dent in the drivers rear wheel arch & some paint blisters on other panels.
The interior is in excellent original condition, the only flaw being the sunroof interior lining is missing (a complete new lining will be supplied with the car)
The rear parcel shelf does have some signs of age & cracking, however is otherwise unmolested with no holes having been cut for speakers. The dashboard is original and is free from any cracks or damage.
Mechanically as stated the carburettor could do with some adjustment or tuning, the throttle pedal does stick slightly when driving, both of which these issues I will try to sort if I have time prior to sale. Current MOT valid until October. 4 tyres where also replaced when I first purchased the car.
originality - This car is understood to be completely original, the wheels are original, no signs of any welding & no signs of any panel repair or paintwork. This is a genuine & honest car that is hiding nothing! Hence why I have left the scratched bonnet & bodywork imperfections!
The pictures will not do this car any justice & viewing is highly encouraged.
This is a reluctant sale, but times change & circumstances change. I will genuinely be sad to see this car go. But at the same time thrilled it will go to a caring owner.
