Description
One previous owner. V5 document declared it as manufactured in 1960, but not first registered till June 1980. Document now shows it as a Cooper but originally was manufactured as a Morris Mini Minor .
Regularly serviced and MOT till January 2026.
Original speedo reading when I purchased the vehicle in March 2013 was 21580 miles, but when the Avonbar full race spec. engine was replaced in 2014 a new speedo was fitted. I purchased the car from a director of Binz Uk (Coachbuilders) who did a complete restoration to this car for his wife to its present specifications :
Avonbar 1400 cc full race engine, S type radiator, electric fan, competition front discs with S type servo and full brake overall, Jack Knight straight cut 4 speed close ratio gearbox , quick shift gear linkage, Maniflow large bore LCB manifold and 2 inch S/ S exhaust, Weber 45DCOE carburettor , Mini Speed big valve cylinder head, roller rocker valve gear, electric fuel pump , cross beam rear axle with coil over shocks front and rear, adjustable tie rods and full camber/ castor adjustments, 5 x 10 Minilite style wheels, twin fuel tanks, leather trimmed interior with special dashboard, folding fabric sun roof , Wood and Picket leather trimmed steering wheel.
In December 2014 at 22500 miles I had the engine rebuilt by S. H. Engineering ( Bromsgrove ) to 1380 cc in a new 11 stud block with a turbo crank ( balanced ) , fitted 276 camshaft , Vernier Duplex trimming gear , steel centre main cap fitted , cylinder head reworked to stage 3 and compression ration raised to 10. 5 to 1 . Fitted an oil cooler and sump guard. Engine will rev to 7000 rpm. Now fitted with heated front and rear screens.
In February 2024 spent over £2000 on body repairs and new sills for its MOT.
Now fitted with new Dunlop SP Sport R7 tyres.
A very quick road car. Purchased this car in March 2013 when it went up for auction, as it reminded me of my very first Mini that I built in the late 1960's and which I developed into a Rally Specification car for club motorsport and used heavily in the 1970's until sold in 1973.
In 2013 my daughter was very much into the Classic Mini scene, owning a few Mini's, so by acquiring this car I was able to go back to my youth, and join her and her family in Mini Club events around the country including the I M M 55th anniversary event in August 2014 in Kent and the I M M 60th event in Bristol. Until recently we as a family would take our Minis out on group tours, but nowadays I am finding it hard to find the time to fully use and appreciate this very special Mini. It needs a good home to an owner who would appreciate its uniqueness, and performance.
