Beskrivning
I have for sale this Porsche 914 that has been in a collection for a number of years and dry stored since being imported from the USA a number of years ago. This particular car was chosen as it had many of the components needed to reproduce the 914/ 6 including, the 5 stud hubs, genuine Fuchs wheels and a 5 speed tail-shift gearbox. The intention was to either, convert into a 914/ 6 or to bring the rare "Crown Turbo" engine back to life and create a fantastic little classic sports car. Far too many other projects and not enough time have meant that with regret, it is time to give someone else the opportunity to do something great with it.
The condition of the car is generally good, especially the exterior bodywork as shown. There is corrosion in a few of the usual places which will need the attention of a welder. This corrosion seems to all be located on the off side of the car. The battery box has been removed (new battery box panels are included) to show the area underneath. This needs attention as does the sills, floor pan and jacking point on the off side (all shown in the images). Other than that, you can see that the car appears to be fairly solid and a good starting point for restoration.
5 genuine Fuchs alloys which are also period correct are included in the sale. These show no signs of damage and are in themselves, sort after items fetching good prices.
The engine has an interesting and rare "Crown 914/ 4 Turbo Kit" which was a period aftermarket upgrade. The previous owner stressed that then engine was matching numbers to the chassis but believes that the engine displacement was increased to 2. 0L during it's upgrade. As this was long before his time with the car however, he could not confirm for certain. It's worth noting that the engine was not a runner (most likely electrical) when it was purchased and imported. This did not pose an issue as the intention was always to rebuild the original engine or convert to a Flat 6 anyway.
With a good 914 fetching around £30k and a 914/ 6 recreation fetching double that figure, this car has always represented an great opportunity and with prices on the rise, will continue to do so. Imported from the previous owner in Santa Barbara, California in 2016 and has been store indoors since arriving in the UK.
The car was originally yellow, clearly evident under the paint on some of the interior sections. It underwent a makeover in the 1990s and during this time the colour was changed to black with the chrome bumpers being painted black also. The bumpers look to be in great shape under that paint.
