Description
1969 MGB Roadster AMF 104H
A superb example of the ever-popular MGB Roadster, finished in its original Pale Primrose Yellow with a black leather interior. Registered in 1969, this Mk II model is one of the last produced before the BMC takeover by British Leyland.
In 2015, the car underwent a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration with over £20, 000 spent on new parts alone, not including the hundreds of hours of skilled labour involved. The body was stripped back to a bare shell, mounted on a rotisserie, and meticulously rebuilt.
Rather than fitting a replacement shell, I chose to retain the original and replace the majority of the outer panels, including complete rear wings up to the scuttle, front wings, floors, boot lid and sills. The panel gaps are excellent and better than factory, and the paintwork, carried out by one of West Sussex’s finest specialists, is of outstanding quality.
The car remains true to its original specification with a few tasteful enhancements including 15-inch MGC wheels and a Moss stainless steel sports exhaust. Mechanically, the car is equally impressive. The engine received a top-end rebuild, the carburettors were refurbished, the gearbox, overdrive and rear axle were rebuilt, and the suspension renewed throughout.
The car drives faultlessly and has been cherished by me since 2010. A comprehensive history file accompanies the car, including detailed invoices and records of the restoration.
Showing 85, 000 miles, although cannot be warrantied I have no reason to believe it’s not, with just 5, 000 miles covered since the restoration, it will be sold with a new MOT and a brand-new cloth hood.
If you are seeking a perfect, low-cost classic that has undergone a true nut and bolt restoration, this exceptional MGB Roadster deserves your attention.
