Description
For Sale: 1932 MG F-Type F1 Magna
Chassis no: F1199
A sympathetically recommissioned 1932 MG F-Type F1 Magna Touring four-seater, retaining its original character and presented as a very usable example.
The car spent circa 60 years on static display in a museum. Following the museum’s closure, it was stored in a barn and later sold after a death in the family. It was subsequently carefully recommissioned and returned to the road.
Recommissioning was carried out by my father, Adrian Moore, before the car was passed on to me. Adrian has been building, racing and restoring Triple-M MGs both professionally and as a hobby for over 40 years, and his depth of knowledge of these cars is extensive. The work was undertaken with a strong focus on originality, correctness and usability.
The car is finished in its original light shade of British Racing Green, with wheels painted in a dark red. The interior has been retrimmed, including seats, and new floorboards have been fitted. Mechanically, it retains its original ENV gearbox and 1271cc engine and drives very nicely, making it an excellent and enjoyable tourer.
Work and features include:
- Cylinder head rebuilt with new valves, guides and rockers
- Dynamo overhauled
- Differential overhauled with new bearings
- Brakes fully checked through and adjusted
- Repainted in original light British Racing Green with dark red wheels
- Five Blockley tyres fitted, all with good tread
- New floorboards
- Interior retrimmed, including seats
- Original hood in good, usable condition
- Original ENV gearbox
The car is fitted with non-original headlights which suit the car well and have therefore been retained.
Since recommissioning, the car has covered approximately 350 miles and is running very well. It has been owned by me for around five years and used gently for pub runs and country drives only. It has been dry stored in a garage since we acquired it in 2020.
A very appealing opportunity to own a historically interesting F-type that is ready to be enjoyed on the road.
