Hello,
This is my little k20 elise S1 I have for sale. I bought it last year with a blown engine, once i replaced and refreshed the engine i wanted to do my yearly roadtrip in it and keep it, but due to family reasons I am deciding to sell (happy to discuss this with the buyer)
When I got the car last year it was mixing water and coolant I decided the best thing to do was just to just pull out the old engine. I bought a new to me low mileage (90k with proof) k20a2, stripped it down replaced the bearings, water pump, oil pump etc. I also came across some messy wiring on the car so tidied a lot of it up with new plugs and connectors and a gave it general go over. It happily completed a 2000 mile trip late last year over europe! Via le mans classc! I did a run in on the engine of 500 miles ish prior with an oil change so the new engine has roughly 2500 miles on it.
The conversion itself is a stark conversion which is a known brand, which a lotus specialist fitted (included in the large paperwork file with the car) it has nitron coloivers which look brand new. Baffled Sump, LSD. The all important ally rad upgrade as theyre a paint to do! The bodywork is as expected for an older car, there is slight lacquer peel on the front and the odd stone chip but its a perfectly usable example!
There is some things to note with the car that i would sort eventually if i was to keep the car. The alternator has become little noisy which im putting down to a bad bearing (i have a spare lucas unit which ive had tested and works) the second one is the starter, it can be a little iffy at times but im still on the fence of if its more earth related than the starter itself, it only plays up when the engine is warm thinking maybe the earth has something to do with it. (These cars are prone to eart issues)
Lastly after some investigating I think the reason the previous engine failed is due the fan switch no longer seeming to work causing the engine to cook, I have setup a Davies Craig Digital thermostat which works like factory with a thermostat probe in the radiator, turning it off and on when it needs to at a certain temp. So has rectified the issue but with my ocd I'd like to eventually get it working like oem again
Besides that its a running driving machine with mot, It's a fantastic car, very fun and ill be sad to see it go but needs must. any questions please just contanct me apart from the bad points ive listed above the car runs and drivers with no other issues!A k20 matched with the lightness of a elise is the match it should always have been... 0-60 in under 4 seconds its an absolute hoot to drive, vtec comings in just over 5k and takes it all the way to nearly 9k! Not only that but a 6 speed gearbox and economical as well as fast
