1992 Lotus Elan SE Turbo 72000 miles. I was planning on getting my car resprayed as the front clam paintwork is not very good, it has been sprayed before, I don’t know why but I cannot see any evidence of previous damage maybe stone chips, hence the front arch liners are not fitted or the small front undertray.
The car is original apart from a Milltek stainless exhaust. To get the car back on the road it requires the cambelt changing due to age, not mileage, I have the kit and the water pump but don’t feel confident in doing it myself having never done it before, the intention was there but I never got around to doing it. The car comes with some spares, oil and fuel filter, braided brake hoses, one is fitted, oil, brake pads and a few other small parts. Once the timing belt is done it will need an MOT and the only thing I have spotted that needs replacing is the driver’s wiper blade. Everything works, windows, mirrors, central locking and alarm, it has a CD autochanger and a minidisc head unit, very retro. The seats are either dark grey or a shade of blue, I’ve never been able to decide which.
It has done 72901 miles which is low for the year. The injectors have been replaced during my ownership and the old ones will come with the car as they could probably be refurbished.
The car does start, drive and stop but I would not advise driving it any distance due to the timing belt change being required.
Therefore for the cost of an MOT and some of your time if you are handy with the spanners and you will have an excellent sports car for a good price. I have to say that the handling of these cars is fantastic and I feel that they are much underrated.
