Wolstenholme’s Cars are pleased to present this rare 1979 Citroen GSA Club finished in Cuivre Pargas, for sale on behalf of a client.
It has exceptional provenance with just one previous owner, a family from Juillac le Coq, in the Charente
When the current owner acquired the car it had been stored for at least three years in a dry barn (see the final picture), and has been subsequently recommissioned to a standard allowing it to be enjoyed for many years into the future.
For a model renowned for poor original construction, this car has led a somewhat charmed life in this warm, dry and sunny part of the Charente, Aquitaine.
The car doesn't have any rust, and the paintwork is original with some markings, but no corrosion. The doors and box sections have been rustproofed with wax and oil injection and are a testament to the original condition of this GSA.
The 1. 3-litre flat-four engine was noisy (due to worn camshafts - a common GSA problem) but has been rebuilt with a complete set of camshafts, new tappets and genuine replacement seals. It is now as quiet, smooth and powerful as when it left the factory.
Remarkably, the plumbing remains drip free. The suspension rises and falls on command without incident.
This GSA is registered as qualifying as a FFVE historic vehicle, however, it has not yet had the final step of registration as a Vehicle Of Collection.
Two new Michelin front tyres have been fitted, and the tow bar has only been used to pull a garden waste trailer. The car is capable of daily use and has been in this ownership for nearly 10 years. The dashboard shows a little over 117, 000km - likely to be accurate given its local origins.
Please note that the original seat covers are partially degraded and have been fitted with stretch covers. One heater lever is broken, the vendor has two replacement parts but lacks the skill to fit them.
It comes with detailed paperwork, and a chassis number can be provided upon request.
