Owned by myself since 2011, this exceptional example of one of the most iconic sports cars ever produced combines timeless styling, exhilarating performance, and true collector appeal.
Famously described by Enzo Ferrari as the most beautiful car ever made, the Series 1, is generally regarded as the most desirable of the Straight Six models and was produced between 1961 and 1964 before the engine capacity was increased to 4. 2 litres.
Finished in Carmen red with a beautifully presented black leather interior, this matching-numbers Series 1 Roadster is a superb representation of Jaguar’s legendary early E-Type design. Powered by the famous 3. 8-litre straight-six engine paired with the original 4-speed manual gearbox, the car delivers the unmistakable driving experience that made the E-Type a motoring legend.
The car benefited from a full restoration between 2005 and 2008 and presents exceptionally well throughout, with excellent chrome, panel fit, paintwork, and interior trim. Mechanical work included, engine rebuild, new wiring loom, new brakes, steering, suspension, and clutch , all backed up by original invoices. Vehicle has been converted to electronic ignition, and an alternator conversion and cooling fan ensure reliability and ease of use for modern traffic conditions.
A new pair of leather bucket seats holds driver and passenger in place whilst ahead of the driver sits the original iconic aluminium-finished dashboard, housing a full complement of classic Smiths and Lucas gauges (all working), set behind finely detailed chrome bezels. The new large wood-rim steering wheel provides a commanding view over the long sculpted bonnet, instantly reminding you that this is no ordinary sports car.
The engine starts readily, pulls really strongly, and the car drives exactly as an early E-Type should.
