Description

This is a genuine 1966 Shelby GT350. It is a very early production vehicle assembled by Shelby American and originally shipped to Ford Advanced Vehicles, Slough, England in December 1965. This is not a "Carry-Over" car but close enough in manufacture date to the original run of 252 cars, to feature some Carry-Over pieces, such as Over-Ride Traction Bars.
Originally White with twin blue stripes, it was repainted some years ago, Blue with white stripes, then prepared for timed European events.
The original Shelby VIN Tag is in place with the correct stamped Ford VIN below, plus other important Ford/ Shelby stampings are in place.
Correct 289ci Hi-Po still installed [with correct matching VIN stamp visible] It is fully rebuilt and has its correct intake and oil pan.
Tri-Y headers are installed with a dual Side-Exit exhaust system.
Currently the engine has an Edelbrock carburettor and MSD distributor fitted, however a correct new reproduction Holley carb and date coded original Dual-Point distributor are with the car.
This Shelby was original supplied with a C4 Automatic transmission but currently has an early 4-speed Top-Loader installed. This has been fully rebuilt and has the correct Ford Shifter assembly. I have an original C4 suitable for rebuild that can go with this car, if sold and is required.
The Factory 9" Axle is in place and now contains a 3. 50:1 True-Trac LSD unit but the cars original Detroit Locker differential is with the car.
During its time in Europe the car was modified from its Factory Specification, with such items as a R-Model Front panel, ducted front brakes, removal of the rear seats and a full roll-cage. The rear wheel arch lips have been rolled and the front fenders pulled slightly to clear the larger 15" Torque-Thrust D alloy wheels.
In recent months the cage [bolt-in] has been removed and a full early Mustang set of original rear seats and lower interior quarter panels located, restored and then refitted into the car.
A correct pair of restored Ray Brown Lap Belts are installed.
Under the dash are three original period Stewart Warner mechanical gauges, these being oil pressure, oil temperature and water temperature.
The car retains is original date coded Car-Lite side and back glasses.
Under the hood, the car is fitted with an Shelby high performance aluminium radiator, large electric cooling fan and seperate brake booster unit.
It has a NOS Kelsey Hayes brake valve should the car be returned to a stock brake system.
The car is currently fitted with an electric power assistance steering system, located under the dash.
This Shelby has been extensively rebuilt mechanically, with a full set of detailed photographs but keeping its older paint and looks.
It is a very early build car in excellent drivable condition whilst retaining much of its Factory fitted components and near all of its original panelwork.
I have nearly 50 years experience of genuine Shelby cars and have cared for this car for many years, so am very happy to answer, accurately, any questions an intertested party may have about it.
The car is available to be viewed in the UK.
Serious enquires only please.
