SHELBY COBRA 427 S/ C VEHICLE SPECIFICATION.
Regarded as one of the most iconic sports cars of all time, the muscular Shelby Cobra has captivated enthusiasts across the globe. It is also the most replicated sports car ever built.
This, however, is no replica. It is a genuine Shelby American Continuation FIA Shelby Cobra 427 S/ C Continuation, carrying an authentic CSX chassis number and built by Shelby American.
Accompanied by FIA HTP papers valid through 2031, the car is eligible for FIA Historic competition events worldwide.
When champion poker player Virgil Beddingfield commissioned Carroll Shelby to build him a 427 Cobra, no detail was overlooked.
On 11 October 2005, Mr. Beddingfield placed his order through Midwest Motorsport, an authorised Shelby Automobiles Inc. dealer.
The car was subsequently assembled by Nostalgia Motorcars Ltd. to exacting standards, featuring a raw aluminium body, the correct 427 side-oiler V8 engine, and a four-speed Toploader gearbox.
The Ford 427 engine supplied by Shelby American Distributor “S/ C Motorsport” @ $40, 800.
Later painted in the iconic Guardsman blue with Wimbledon white centre stripe.
Interior finished in black featuring instruments, switches and hand made Mota–lita wood rim steering wheel.
A True “Continuation Cobra” by Shelby American Aluminium body built to original specification, Ford 427cu – 7. 0 ltr side oiler engine / Toploader 4 speed gearbox.
Sadly Mr Bddingfield passed away 17th December 2019 where his estate was sold off however the Cobra wasn’t accounted for within his assets and so didn’t materialise for a further 18 months where the car was discovered untouched in a different State.
We believe this car has had 3 previous owners, the second owner acquired this car before relocating to the UK bringing with him this Cobra where it was entrusted by ourselves for a complete mechanical overall.
This included a full service and a number of mechanical alterations that was carried out rectifying incorrect work.
At the same time a FIA HTP application was made and granted with Historic Technical Passport papers valid for 10 years, (5 years remain).
Additional work includes fitting the correct Girling CR front and rear racing brake callipers, plumbed in fire extinguisher system, ignition cutout switch, painting wheel centres white, side pipes painted black satin, fitting body tennex fasteners and making bespoke tonneau cover.
Added benefit is upgraded cooling including ceramic coated exhaust headers in performance white, larger radiator and cooling fans.
Subsequently to date the car benefits from full PPF by Gem Detailing Reading, black wheels and side pipes, aerospace anodised fittings, tracker, the GoodYear Bill Board cross ply tyres changed to the very compliant Avon CRZZ tyres in 2022. Engine tuning was carried out July this year with a new carburettor & jetting giving astounding performance.
While this correct “4000 series” Cobra 427 S/ C has resided here in the UK all Servicing and maintenance has been conducted by the talented ex AC employees now working here at Redline Engineering UK.

HISTORY
Presented in a leather-bound folio, the car is accompanied by an exceptional history file that includes the original order form from Shelby Automobiles Inc., the 427 engine invoice from Shelby American Distributors S/ C Motorsports, the Shelby Automobiles Inc. Statement of Origin dated 2007, and the Certificate of Title issued in April 2007. All applicable taxes have been paid.
Also included is a letter from Motorsport UK confirming the validation and issue of the FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP), certifying the car’s eligibility for FIA Historic competition.
The comprehensive documentation is further supported by a collection of period invoices and receipts, the original shipping commercial invoice, build photographs from Nostalgia Motorcars, a Certificate of Conformity for the fuel bladder cell from Premier Fuel Systems/ BG Developments, detailed invoices from Redline Engineering covering the work carried out to date, together with two tracker fobs and a complete set of keys.
