Description
JAGUAR XK150 3. 4 FHC LHD from 1959
Chassis No. S835242
Engine No. V2883-8
Very nice example of Jaguar XK150 coupé, 1959 model year, matching numbers.
Rare left-hand drive.
This car underwent a substantial body restoration in 2007: after complete dismantling, the car was stripped and repainted. Defects and wear to the sheet metal were fully rectified. Many aesthetic elements were changed: all chrome fittings, bumpers, grille, all rubber seals, the windscreen.. The wheels as well. Evidence is a complete dossier tracking works and parts orders.
To date the paint remains well preserved with a light patina giving it a very appreciable retro look.
The alignment of the openings is satisfactory. The chromes are bright.
Chassis side: subframes, floors and sills show no corrosion per the expert assessment.
In terms of interior, the dashboard is in good condition and the instrumentation is functional.
The seats, probably redone in the past, have a nice patina and you can discern here and there some light signs of wear due to time.
The headlining is well preserved. The carpets, replaced, are in excellent condition.
As for the engine, it is fitted with its two original SU carburettors. The correspondence of the engine number on the plate and on the block is effective.
The expert assessment showed that starting, idling, revving, and exhaust are satisfactory.
Compression testing confirms good engine health:
Cylinder 1: 9 bar / Cylinder 2: 9 bar / Cylinders 3-6: 9. 5 bar
The current owner maintains it as he should and a number of works have been carried out:
- Overhaul of the front end (bearings, silent blocks…)
- Overhaul of the clutch
- Overhaul of the braking system
- Overhaul of the steering rack (steering silent block replaced by a driveshaft for optimum reliability)
- Overhaul of the electrical system
- Overhaul of the tank seal
For reliability, certain additions and modifications were made:
- addition of an electric cooling fan
- addition of an electric fuel pump
- addition of an aluminium expansion tank
- addition of a servo brake
In short, a sound, reliable, restored car, done just enough to preserve its period charm.
