The Appeal
People have been modifying air-cooled Volkswagens for over sixty years now and it’s easy to see why. Ubiquitous and simple, Beetles lend themselves perfectly to DIY enhancement and before long, air-cooled performance specialists like EMPI emerged, offering parts and services to ready these cars for racing.
Here we have a lightly modified 1963 1200 Beetle, boasting a number of tasteful period mechanical and cosmetic enhancements. Upgraded to 12 volt, equipped with a twin-carb 1600 cc engine, lowered and fitted with wider rear tyres, this Volkswagen has considerably more performance than new, without losing even an ounce of its classic character.
Presented in very good condition and reportedly ready to be used by its new owner, this is a really fine classic Beetle that we’re sure will be of great interest to enthusiasts.
