The Appeal
Introduced in 1958, the Land Rover Series II marked the first major evolution of the original Land Rover formula. While still unmistakably rooted in the pioneering Series I, its broader bodywork, more defined shoulder line, and subtly more modern proportions established the design language that would carry through later Series models and, ultimately, the Defender.
The phrase ‘nut-and-bolt restoration’ is often used rather loosely, but it appears well supported in the case of AAW 385A. The work extends far beyond cosmetic refurbishment, with the specification including a galvanised chassis, rebuilt engine with new timing chain, rebuilt rear tub, new A-pillars and floors, a stainless-steel exhaust, an uprated clutch, an Exmoor Trim canvas roof and deluxe seats.
Finished in a smart grey colour scheme and configured with a soft top and rear bench seating, this Series II combines classic Land Rover character with the reassurance of extensive restoration work. It should prove a highly usable and appealing example, whether enjoyed on family outings, weekend drives, or classic vehicle events. image.png1.56 MB
