The Appeal
The Jensen Interceptor is still quite the unique proposition nearly sixty years later. Penned by Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, powered by a muscular Chrysler V8 and built by Jensen’s West Bromwich factory, this three-nation sports car continues to capture the attention and imagination of enthusiasts in a big way. Everything is muscular and brash, yet undeniably classy. Just 923 Mk1s were built in RHD, and only seven left the factory painted black. The vendor believes it’s the last one of this desirable spec.
This 1969 example has had just two former registered keepers. It underwent a nut-and-bolt restoration in 2020/2021, with a focus on keeping the car factory-standard, save for larger-diameter Rostyle wheels and a louvred bonnet.
The work included extensive fabrication and bodywork repairs, a bare-metal respray, cabin re-trim, and an engine rebuild with new pistons and a reworked head. The gearbox has been serviced, and there’s a reconditioned front axle, a new stainless-steel exhaust, a new fuel tank, a replacement power steering pump, and overhauled suspension. New brake calipers and discs complete the restoration highlights.
