The Appeal
The 1974 model year marked the beginning of Porsche's G-series 911, introducing the now-iconic impact bumpers, Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 2.7-litre flat-six producing 150 PS. For many enthusiasts, these early G-body cars represent the sweet spot of the air-cooled 911 lineage: mechanically robust, visually distinctive and unburdened by the weight and complexity of later iterations. They are increasingly sought after in their own right, rather than simply as donor cars for backdate projects.
This particular 2.7 Coupé, chassis 9114103737, was originally built for the U.S. market and spent part of its earlier life in California, from where it comes with historical photographs and documentation. Imported to Finland in 2014, it has remained with the same registered keeper ever since. In 2015, the car underwent a sympathetic restoration and mechanical refurbishment, encompassing an exterior repaint in orange, an engine rebuild, brake servicing and interior refurbishment. The philosophy behind the work was to preserve the car's character rather than convert it into an RS replica or restomod, and the result is a narrow-body 911 that retains its period charm.
