The Appeal
The final and most refined version of Triumph’s compact GT, the Mk3 combined sleek fastback styling with a lively 2.0-litre straight-six. Produced between 1970 and 1974, it featured improved handling, updated styling and a more comfortable cabin, making it the most developed and desirable of the GT6 line. With few built and even fewer surviving, the Mk3 is now a rare and sought-after classic.
First registered in February 1974, this example has just one former keeper and an especially appealing history. The first owner is said to have driven it sparingly, storing it first in an industrial unit and later in a Carcoon at her Berkshire home, leaving it largely unused for decades. Since 2022 it has remained garage-stored with the current vendor, who notes no restoration has been carried out - the car remains as it left the BLMC production line.
Finished in French Blue with well-preserved chrome and an original interior in unusually good order, this GT6 presents as a highly authentic survivor. Mechanically unmodified, with its 1998cc six-cylinder engine described as starting well and running beautifully, it offers a rare chance to acquire an unrestored Mk3 that balances originality with strong collector appeal.
