The Appeal
The Laverda Montjuic 500 is one of the most celebrated Italian sporting motorcycles of the late 1970s. Named after the famous Montjuïc circuit in Barcelona, this lightweight, race-bred parallel twin has long been prized by enthusiasts and historic racers for its combination of performance, character and agility.
This 1978 example comes with genuine racing history, having been campaigned in the B.E.A.R.S. (British European and American Race Series) with British Historic Racing. It was acquired by the current owner in 2016 from Robin Webster, a respected name in Laverda racing circles, who had originally sourced the machine in Spain. Its authenticity has been confirmed by the International Laverda Owners Club, whose verification letter certifies manufacture in Breganze, Italy, with dispatch in early spring 1978. Finished in an orange livery with '260' roundels, the bike benefits from a number of performance-oriented upgrades. The engine has not run for approximately three years and will require recommissioning.
