The Appeal
The Ferrari 308 GTB needs little introduction. This is a pure pop-culture juggernaut car, the sort that adorned bedroom posters in the 70s and cemented itself as true motoring royalty. Penned by Pininfarina and powered by a glorious mid-mounted V8, it remains one of Maranello's most celebrated and desirable road cars - a pure, analogue driving machine from an era many consider to be Ferrari's golden age. Of the 308s, the steel-bodied GTB, with its fixed roof and purposeful stance, is often the purist's choice.
This 1979 example was delivered new in France through POZZI, the legendary Parisian Ferrari concessionaire, and wears the handsome combination of grey over red. It has had just two former registered keepers and has been in the current owner's care since 2008, with a modest 62,140 kilometres accumulated over its lifetime.
The history is well documented with invoices on file, and the car benefits from a thorough overhaul carried out in 2011 as well as a recent belt change in 2025. The vendor reports that the car retains its original specification and that everything functions as it should, with a Contrôle Technique valid to July 2027.
Reported to retain its original specification, with everything functioning
The folks at Pininfarina have plenty to be proud of, but if you were to rank their best, we'd reckon that this would be in the line-up - effortlessly. Wedge-shaped, with concealed headlights and a handsome buttressed rear, it was an icon as soon as it was sketched up, and has become one of the most inspiring cars of all time by proxy.
This handsome grey example feels every bit as purposeful and capable as you'd expect, with only gentle signs of the car's years and a straight, tight set of panel gaps that look exactly as they should be. The concealed headlights are reportedly lifting correctly and all badges and branding look to be where they should be.
Inside, the red leather cabin is a very handsome looker. A gentle patina has set into the upholstery that feels evocative and stylish, while the instruments are clean and legible and the dashboard looks as it should be - complete with period music player.
The vendor describes the mechanical condition as very good, with a well-tuned engine and immediate starting
Gearbox described by the vendor as firm and precise
Major overhaul in 2011 at 56,165km, including:
Engine removal
Clutch replacement
Brakes
Bearings
Silent blocks
Shock absorbers
Exhaust
Belts replaced in July 2025, along with oil change and spark plug replacement
The vendor reports the car to be reliable with very pleasant road behaviour
The performance is the core of a Ferrari, and this one's 3-litre mid-mounted V8 is no slouch. It's capable of 0–60mph in ~6.5 seconds and a top speed over 150mph, but it's really the high revs and agility that give the 308 its magic. Overhauled less than 10,000 miles ago, it's very mechanically standard and reportedly in fine working order.
We understand that this handsome car is ready and waiting to thrill its lucky new keeper, and we have no doubt that it'll prove a very welcome addition to your fleet.C&C_1979Ferrari308GTB_0047 Germain Durand.jpg3.19 MB
