The Appeal

The 9-5 was perhaps the most fully resolved executive car that Saab ever built, one that was both commercially successful and imbued with the firm’s legendary eccentricities. It was also the last car to feature an evolution of the highly reliable ‘slant four’ engine that powered the original 99 Turbo.

This 2002 facelift 250bhp 9-5 proves how durable a well-maintained, high-mileage Saab can be. Its 302,000 km is backed by an impressive array of service stamps, all but two by Saab specialists and main dealers. The car also presents well, checking out across the usual Saab inspection areas such as rear arches and underside.

Finished in dark blue with a dark charcoal leather interior, the car wears its mileage lightly save for a few inevitable cosmetic marks, which are shown in the photos for transparency. It comes to market with a current Contrôle Technique valid to December 2027. The vendor notes some comments on the test regarding corrosion, which he says is superficial and has since been treated. He also advises that the EML light comes on intermittently and tells us that this is due to a crank sensor and is an inexpensive fix.
