The Appeal
It’s hard to approach the DB9 without the secret agent associations, but it’s worth it because, seen afresh it is clearly one of the greatest Aston Martins and best GTs of the last 30 years. Built on the clever, lightweight Aston ‘VH’ platform, which makes extensive use of aluminium, the DB9 was a thorough reset for a firm that had spent too much of the previous years recycling old architecture.
This 2005 car is a pre-facelift model with the earlier ‘waterfall’ dashboard and has been treated to a professionally-applied satin black wrap by the current keeper, who acquired the car a couple of years ago. Prior to installation, we’re told that any paintwork blemishes were rectified.
The car presents well with a nice specification that includes upgraded diamond-polished alloys and a burgundy leather interior. The history file shows a run of regular annual servicing to 2017 by main dealers and specialists. Since buying the cvar we’re told the vendor has undertaken two major services. There are recent receipts for servicing, brake work, a/c repairs, condenser, and audio work by specialists. The current MOT runs to April 2027 with no advisories.
The vendor says:
“No known faults, starts first time. runs like a dream and sounds like a V12 should when needed. Looks and drives a like a dream. everything in working order.”
