The Appeal
The Spec C shouldn’t have really existed. Subaru’s engineers were busy finessing this homologation special at the Nurburgring when the firm’s CEO, facing a sales black hole, pulled the plug on its 20 year WRC-winning run.
Thankfully the project still went ahead giving 900 buyers worldwide the chance to get their hands on this thoroughly improved generation WRX STi special. Those engineers had made the Spec C 30kg lighter than the standard car by thinning the glass, fitting a smaller battery and an aluminium bonnet. In came bigger brakes and an aero kit. The steering was sharpened and the understeer was reduced. No wonder Evo rates this car as one of the greatest Imprezas built.
This 2009 car spent its life on Japan’s salt-free roads until 2019, when it arrived in the UK. Various service history and UK documents verify the mileage. Since arriving here it has been regularly serviced by specialist Torque GT and then by SGR Autos. Other notable work includes a new radiator in 2024, upgraded exhaust in 2023 and wheel refurbishment two years ago.
Finished in black with smart gold Rotas, this is a chance to get your hands on the ultra-rare Spec C, widely regarded as the last of the ‘proper’ factory homologation Imprezas.
