Matching numbers example according to the owner and the Swiss documents
The Appeal
This stunning sports car is an engineering marvel featuring a winning combination of a powerful yet small displacement front-mounted V8 engine with racing heritage, rear wheel drive, ZF manual gearbox and stunning design by none other than Marcello Gandini of Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos fame.
This is a very rare vehicle as well, with fewer than 4000 produced over a relatively short production run, despite a very good public reception. Even fewer remain in the UK, with around 49 remaining on the road. This example is a real gem, with only 33,162km on the clock, in an incredible original feel and condition. This is an exceptional vehicle.

The Interior
Black leather
Glorious wood rim steering wheel
Wonderful original feel
This stunning interior is a real time machine back to the glory of 1970’s Italian automotive excellence, stunningly well preserved, this car oozes character and style. Black leather abounds, a tasteful dash of chrome trimmings and switch bezels, and the very stylish yet sporty wood rimmed steering wheel is just perfection. The large gauges are very interesting, and every reading you need is just a glance away. Everything in this car is in exceptional condition, yet not so perfect as to feel un-authentic.
The black leather seats are in mint condition, and may have had the covers replaced at some point as the leather is in remarkable condition for the age. A sporty black shift knob and leather gaiter adorn the centre console, along with the classy “Montreal” badging and chrome trims. The cargo space under the rear hatch is very clean, the carpet in good condition. This car has clearly been well loved yet also used and enjoyed, as evidenced by some dirt in the boot space and carpets, however this needs nothing more than a basic clean.
This is a car designed for the true driving enthusiast and features very few mod cons besides the nice feature of air conditioning, which is unusual for a sports car of this era. Overall just a delightful interior set up for a raw, delightful driving experience.
The Exterior
Gleaming red paint
Stunning vehicle overall
Near concours condition
What is not to love about this exterior? The profile of this car is beautiful, and was designed by Marcello Gandini (Bertone), the designer of the Lamborghini Countach and Lancia Stratos. A perfect blend between performance and style. A prominent feature of this fine car is the retractable body-colour matched headlight grills, activated at the flick of a switch.
The car is finished in a sublime red gloss which is in great shape, very well cared for with very minimal blemishes. It features a nice amount of classy chrome trims, all of which are in stunning condition with the chrome being clean and free of corrosion, and well polished. All of the glasswork is clean and clear, and the yellow headlamps really complete the look of this stunning sports car.
The wheels are all in great shape with no dents or dings, and are wrapped with very nice Pirelli P3000 tyres with plenty of tread remaining. The sills and front air dam are also very neat and in excellent shape with no apparent damage to be found. The side vents behind the doors and the wonderful NACA duct in the bonnet really add to the feel of this rare sports car.
Overall a truly stunning vehicle in the exterior department, this car has clearly been extremely well loved and maintained, and would take very very little work to take it to concours condition.
Stunning chromework, fantastic original car, brilliant yellow headlights and retracting red headlight grills, wheels in fantastic shape and matched Pirelli P3000 tyres with lots of tread left. Glass is all clean and clear and free from bad marks and scratches, side vents in fantastic shape with no damage apparent. Rear hatch, doors and bonnet all work perfectly. Stunning exterior badging and condition.
The Mechanics
Injection overhaul
ZF gearbox works great
Incredibly clean
The stunning 197hp, 2.6L, four-cam V8 sings like any good Italian sports car should. It starts and runs very nicely. The engine is a rare competition-derived four-cam offering from the Tipo 33 race car. The “iniezione sistema alfa romeo-spica” badging on the engine cover reminds you this is actually a very advanced car for its time and is fuel injected, this system has been treated to a complete injection overhaul and works perfectly. Certainly a high performance sports car in its time.
Very clean indeed, as with the rest of the car under the bonnet is almost spotless. Clearly no expense has been spared on its maintenance, an extremely well preserved vehicle with only 33,162km on the clock. This car wants for nothing mechanically. The ZF gearbox works perfectly, and it starts, stops, and turns as it should. A brilliant machine!
Summary
A true classic sports car driving experience. The original feel continues throughout this fine machine, from the interior to the exterior to the mechanicals, a real joy to behold. A fantastic rare car that would be at home in any collection, or as a cherished sports car to enjoy and be driven.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
