The Rover P4 was produced from 1948 until 1964. Beautifully built, stylish, surprisingly slick to drive, they have always been thought of as a thing of quality but it’s easy to forget how the startlingly modern styling offended some conservative tastes in 1948. The P4 became widely loved and it’s testimony to the quality of the product and the devotion of Rover owners that the car remained in production for a full six years after the launch of the P5.
This car is a 1960 Rover P4 100 in Shadow green over Rush green with overdrive. This car came to us as a part exchange on a P6 – the last owner bought it from a Norfolk based dealer last year (£8k) but needed an automatic due to an arthritic problem. The previous owner had the car for 19 years and the mileage reading is 71, 000 which is believed to be correct. It is now Tax and MOT exempt and 11 of the last 12 MOT’s are without advisories. This P4 is not a concours car – there are one or two minor paint imperfections and the interior is in original condition with some wear but it represents great value at the asking price.
