Descripción
The Jaguar MK2 was produced between 1959 and 1967. With beautiful styling and performance to match, these cars were the first compact sports saloons and transformed Jaguar's fortunes, so much so that there were waiting lists for them through the 60's. The 3. 8 litre with a claimed 220bhp was the most sought after and for some time it was the fastest four-door saloon on the market with a top speed of 125mph.
This car is a 1961 MK2 3. 8 automatic in Old English White with red interior. This is a UK supplied right hand drive matching numbers car, still bearing its original registration number. It was supplied new in 1961 by Henlys in Manchester. It is in beautiful condition thanks to a comprehensive bare shell restoration carried out a few years ago but the car has been little used since. The body was chemically stripped, revealing an excellent shell requiring minimal repairs, then painted and re-assembled. The front suspension, rear axle, and brakes were rebuilt, as was the engine and gearbox. The interior trim was replaced and the car is fitted with new chrome wires and electric power steering. Total expenditure shown on invoices with the car came to ?40k excluding the original cost of the car.
On the road this outstanding MK2 drives beautifully and has the tight feel of a fully re-built, sorted car - please see the additional photos showing the superb detail under the bonnet and underside. Superb value.
