A Limited Edition MGB Roadster With Low Miles and Long MOT
Newly arrived is this 1981 MGB Roadster LE. Finished in metallic bronze, with black soft top and with its distinctive Triumph Stag-like wheels, this is a low mileage car with 78000 recorded miles and MOT to January 2020.
The rubber bumper cars may not be the most sought after of the MGB range, but at the time their introduction was a necessity to comply with US impact and headlight regulations. This included raising the ride height by 25mm. Later cars were fitted with an anti-roll bar to improve handling. The LE was introduced in 1980 with a production run was just 1000 cars, of which just 421 were roadsters.
The MG used a B-Series engine of 1798cc which had twin carbs and produced 95 bhp at 5500 rpm, giving the roadster a top speed of around 105 mph.
Our car comes with old photographs, owners handbook, and various registration documents showing that of the seven owners, four were the same company and individual. The Roadster has had a lot of of maintenance and servicing work and a large quantity of invoices are included with the car. Other documents include the original vehicle sale invoice dated 2. 2. 1981 where the buyer negotiated a 10% discount. The total cost on the road for this car was £5783. 66.
Spares availability for these cars is immense and they remain very popular. This Roadster is in good all round condition, exterior, interior and underneath, with only minor blemishes in the paintwork in a couple of places. It drives very well and we recommend it. It will be serviced prior to sale.
