motodrome offer for sale this left hand drive, ex-Californian 1964 Triumph TR4
This one, with chassis no CT/ 38917-LO and engine number CT39392-E left Canley bound for Standard Triumph in Los Angeles in November 1964, and seems to have lived in the dry California climate all it’s life, with few owners – certainly a Joan Tellian of Glendora California owned it 1988 to 2015 according to old US title docs and old photos, but probably in later years didn’t drive it as there is a photo in the history showing it parked in her garage covered in furniture and bric a brac, but still proudly wearing it’s ‘black plate’ California reg of RRG 423.
It was shipped to the UK in 2016 and recommissioned by the Classic Carriage Company, and UK registered, and has had one private owner since
. When new, it was fitted with the following extras: Overdrive, Heater, 60 spoke wire wheels, walnut dash, sun visors, and screenwash, all of which it retains.
The roof, enamel wire wheels, and the Falken tyres all look to be near-new, and in 2019 it’s had a new exhaust and carpeting.
It’s recently come out of our workshops following a thorough check over, and body and chassis wise the condition is as you’d expect for one that that spent almost it’s entire life in a dry climate, and drives really well too. I'd hesitate to describe any near 60-year old car as 'rust free', but in my opinion you'll struggle to find a better one in terms of it's all-important body and chassis condition, and in my opinion it drives really well too.
Personally I don't agree with the current legislation that vehicles over 40 years old don't require an MOT, so I'm happy to report that this one is MOT'd until January 2021 (with no advisories). The MOT inspector was extremely impressed with it, both in terms of it's structure, and it's braking performance.
Chassis, Engine and Commission numbers all match the details on the heritage certificate.
