There’s nothing quite like an open top LR on a sunny day as it really is a nostalgic special occasion. This one is as at home on the country lanes as it would be across a muddy field, dare you want to get it dirty!
Following a long period of storage, this Series III has been subject to an extensive in depth twelve month body off and virtually a nut and bolt restoration resulting in almost “like new” vehicle.
Points of note including a replacement bulkhead, fully repaired chassis and a superb professional repaint. It has been fitted with many new parts, mechanically overhauled and finished with a new canvas and hood sticks.
Last on the road in 2009, around 500 or so miles have been covered since. The history file includes receipts for parts, old MoTs, tax discs and copies of all older V5s. The mileage is recorded at 25, 463 (uncolaborated)
This meticulously restored series 3 has been lovingly put together with care and attention and although maybe not to purists degree, it represents an easy to live with, get in and go Land Rover with all of the painstaking effort and unknown bills already paid by the last owner! The costs of which will probably far outweigh the asking price.
Driving this series 3, the 2. 2 petrol engine runs great, starts on the button and runs and pulls smoothly through all 4 gear changes which engage well with a nice feel to the gearbox. No noisy diff or mechanical woes. The cabin is superb, feels like new and the seats have been refurbed with decent foams and all instruments are clear and in working order.
The new canvas is top quality, fits great and gives plenty of options for some open air adventures.
In conclusion, if you are after a classic series 3 with all of the hard work completed, mechanically and reliably sound and something to drive with smiles for miles, this could be the one!
