Description
This is no ordinary Gtv6. It started life as a standard Gtv6 2. 5 with white bodywork & chocolate chequered cloth seats. It now has a 3L 24v Alfa V6 out an Alfa 166 including it's front brakes with 12" discs. A front mounted Getrag Gearbox, propshaft with u-joints and an Alfa 6 diff. Original 3L front spoiler & bonnet not replicas, correct "long dash" with no cracks & original seats & LH door mirror. New roof lining, carpets, door, boot, window channelling rubbers. Why was this done? Here's the car's history: The car was bought new in '82 by Fred Scheepers(Founder of SupaQuick Tyre & Exhaust Franchise?) until '89 when he sold it to Mike Jones who kept the original Transvaal number plates which is how I bought the car in May '95, not in concours condition but still good. My intention was to preserve it, which I did until December '98 when it needed an engine overhaul . A 3. 5L 12v Twin Turbo with front mounted gearbox came up for sale. The gearbox tunnel had to be modified, bought an Alfa 6 sedan for that plus the diff & braking system. The car was completely stripped down for this and colour changed to red. In 2004 it then went to 3. 4 24v Twin Turbo built by Dawie de Villiers then in 2007 NA 3. 7 24v built by him as well. In 2009 I had had enough of 10 years of unreliable modified motors and fitted the current 3L 24v motor which is now reflected on the car's registration papers. The Mods: Powermods fuel & ignition management system. Plenum modified to take Gtv6 throttle body with cable. Custom exhaust manifolds. Relocated thermostat from rear to front of heads. Heater pipes blanked off. Relocated alternator from right to left of motor & its idler. Custom made sump still using 24v oil pump. Shorten dipstick sleeve. Different induction system. Adapter plate. Relocated fuse-box to engine bay from under the dash where it looked untidy with wires showing & awkward to check fuses, it's in a much more civilised position now. Bm e30 brake booster & Alfa6 master cylinder because I was using the 4pot callipers from the Alfa6. Uno wiper motor because the original wiper motor was in the way of the bigger brake booster. Mercedes 123 series handbrake because of the modified tunnel. Alfa 166 front discs and callipers. 17"rims. 25mm drop. Elec window relays fitted so the windows fly up & down now. Fresh coat of paint in 2020. Mods have held up for over 20 years, handling 320kw from the 3. 4Turbo & being reliable with the current 160kw 3L 24v NA motor. Cambelt with idlers and water-pump were replaced in September 2019. An everyday driver, if turbocharged then the majority of the work to make the drivetrain more robust has already been done & proven. I've spent about 6000 hours of work on this car in the 26 years since I've owned it, plus capital that has been poured into it & sentimental value and still I'm negotiable with the price . I would appreciate the car going to a good home where the work done and its condition will be appreciated. More pics of int, ext & underside are available.
